Celebrating Writing Progress and What I've Been up to

Hello, everyone! It's October again. Can you believe it? For whatever reason, it doesn't feel like Autumn yet. To me, Autumn has a smell to it, something in the air. And I haven’t smelled it yet.

In any case, how have you been? I hope October has been treating you well, and that you've been able to take exciting steps toward your dreams.

I come bearing exciting news about the book I'm working on! I like to keep track of my writing days (the days I spend actually drafting words for a story), and I just hit 100 writing days with my new project!! I started this book in February, so I'm super happy to have finally hit a major milestone with it! Oh, and I'm also over 80 pages into the manuscript!!

Is there anything you’re looking forward to with the end of the year? I’m excited for Wicked: For Good! The trailers look and sound so beautiful!! 🤩 And then there’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, and we should get the first trailer for Enola Holmes 3 sometime in the next couple months!

In terms of books, the final one in The Fireborn Epic by Gillian Brontë Adams will be coming out in January!! It’s been an amazing and emotional ride with these characters and I’m so, so hoping they all get happy endings! 😭

Also speaking of books, I’ve been in a reading slump for a while, but I finally found a book to love! I just finished The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen and it was amazing!!

Sage, the main character, is a snarky little rascal and he had me grinning the whole time at his quips and inner dialogue! I’m gonna keep reading the series, so I really hope the rest of the books are able to top and even exceed how much I enjoyed this first one!

Are you participating in any fun activities for the Fall? Maybe inktober or a writing challenge? My favorite YouTuber, TheBrownSatchel, is hosting a color with me series where she’s hand drawn pages and coloring them while telling spooky stories! 👻

So I’ve decided to join the fun there. We can tag her on Instagram so she can see our completed coloring pages, but I don’t have the app, so I’m sharing my first page here.

I messed up the skin tone ‘cause I didn’t test the marker before putting it to the paper. (Can you say, face palm moment?) But I’m happy with the way the rest of it turned out!

Dearest heart, I hope you’re having a wonderful day so far, and that the rest of October treats you kindly.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Go be epic! <3

I am so impressed that you reached 100 days of writing for your novel! that should be celebrated because consistency is so hard.
your coloring page is masterful! I love all of the shading.
I'm excited for fall activities this season. my husband and I are going to a headless horseman festival next week! I just love having little adventures.
I didn't even know there was going to be an Enola Holmes 3! I am an avid fan of all things Holmes and I thoroughly enjoyed those movies.

    1. I found the song in an anime tribute a fan had made several years ago. I’d never heard it before then but now my younger sisters and I are obsessed!
      Thank you!
Aah, I’m a fraud, I’m afraid. I watched the shading from the video and copied most of it for my own page! XD But thank you anyway, I did work hard on it! The copying and the original bits.
      Ooh, sounds spooky!
RIGHT?! Those movies were phenomenal!! They finished filing the third one earlier this year so I am surprised we haven’t had a trailer yet. Hopefully it comes out soon!
      Thank you! 🥹

    2. I feel like I always find the best songs in the most random places! a lot of my favorite songs I've found from fan videos or the end credits of films.
HAHA you just made me laugh out loud. I'm a strong believer that using source material in art does not mean you're a fraud! it takes talent to emulate too.
oh really? wow I'm surprised there hasn't been a trailer yet too. hopefully soon!!

    3. Miranda, we have got to stop twinning. That's where I found most of my favorite songs too!!
True, true it does take talent to emulate. But still, in this case I wasn't being very original, at least when it came to the shading! 😆
      Yep, fingers crossed!!
