It’s been bitterly cold where I live, friends. Bitterly. But it’s finally starting to get warmer. We’re now in the early 30s (F) most days! (Yes, I'm being sarcastic, but it actually has felt warmer now that we're in the 30s XD)

We ended up getting maybe 3 inches of snow, but with it being so cold, it quickly froze to be rock hard, so basically ice. But we were never snowed in too badly, and we never lost electricity — a huge blessing!

Anywho, today I’ll be sharing what I’ve been up to lately. Enjoy!

~ ~ ~

Watching: Just finished Idol I. Good, but lowkey depressing, honestly 😅. I finished it mostly to find out who the killer was.

Listening: To my calming, ethereal soundtracks playlist.

Wishing: That the Stray Kids fandom has an awesome time at the theaters this weekend!! (Stray Kids has a concert doc in theaters this weekend, and I’m just, you know, a little bit excited!!) Edit: Okay, I just saw it and it was *in Po’s voice* awwesooome!!

Loving: That I’m on a rest day, and get to write this blog post while listening to beautiful music with a winter world outside.

Writing: This blog post. I hope to get to some poetry sometime this month as well.

Admiring: Stray Kids and their approach to life and relationships. I learn a hundred new ways I want to live just by hearing them talk.

Eating: Nothing right now, but I want either chocolate cake or cheesecake. Sadly, I have neither readily available.

(yes, i know this is tiramisu xD)

Anticipating: Snapshots of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons. It comes out this month and eep! I really hope it's good!!

Trying: To puzzle out a schedule for my days.

Learning: That there really is so much beauty in the world + how to reconnect to my child self while also forging a new path ahead into the unknown.

Dreaming: Of the future and all I want to do.

Making: Do with the knowledge and experience I have to tackle the challenges of each day.

Celebrating: The end of The Fireborn Epic trilogy by Gillian Bronte Adams. I finished the final book last week (thank you, local library!), and it was amazing! Friends, it is so important to read books that have you feeling a little braver by their end. <3

Embracing: The mess of life. We can’t be perfect but that’s okay, ‘cause God works wonders in our weaknesses. <3

Noticing: That I really do love the 2010s era. Some are drawn to the Victorian, or the World Wars, or the 90s and early 2000s. But my heart belongs to the burgeoning fandoms, the joyful, quirky internet, and the cinematic pop music blaring in every tribute and edit. *sighs happily*

Well, friends, thanks for reading my thoughts from this slow, winter day.

How has the weather been where you are? And if you live in the U.S., how did you fare during the January storm? How many inches of snow did you get, or was it mostly ice? Also, what have you been reading, dreaming, loving, etc. lately? Feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

Have a fantastic rest of your weekend, friends, and go be epic!

  1. It's been so cold here too! We got snow last week and it's been snowing on and off ever since.

You're so right about the 2010s era too! I was in my twenties, in college, nannying and babysitting. The 2010s were great. Especially 2012! The movies, the music, television, the London Olympics. It was awesome. If I could go back to 2012 I would do so in a heartbeat.

    1. *shivers empathetically* xD Okay, good, I'm glad at least someone got pure snow and not just blocks of ice everywhere!

Oh, that sounds lovely! Yes, yes, yes, and yes! (Eep, that was when we first got Gabby Douglas out there being awesome!) It was just a great time to be alive!
For me, I'd choose to be dropped off at 2012, but I wanna redo up to 2015!
2012 to 2015 were hands down the best years of my life! XD
Do you have a fav piece of media that came out in 2012?

    2. 2015 was a really good year too. I summed up everything about my love for 2012 here

Oh! I love Wunderkind! Those are still some of my favorite movies!

    3. Thanks for sharing! T'was lovely to read your thoughts, and I left a comment!

It's a beautiful song, isn't it? I found it about five years ago, but I could've found it much earlier since I've seen the Narnia films a ton. Friendly reminder to self to watch through the whole credits of movies, lol, they bury the best songs there! XD

  2. I'm in the southern part of the US, so we've been hitting upper 50s during the warmest days. No more coats, yay! But in January, there was a lot of ice and maybe an inch of snow that quickly melted away. I hope spring is here for good, it's my favorite season!

I had chocolate today. Everyday is a good day for chocolate LOL
But all in all, I'm waiting for February to pass and the world to wake up in March. I've been starved of morning birdsong.
I don't quite remember the early 2010s, but 2016-19 was an era, especially if you were in elementary school! Kids these days don't know what they're missing haha

    1. Wow, the 50s, so warm!! And here I am writing this from yet another well-below-freezing day! XD

*nods sagely in agreement to the chocolate comment*
Oh 100%! We had some pretty good media coming out in the late 2010s!
