Spring on the Horizon | A Journal Entry

Hello blog!

So I finally got around to watching the Extraction films on Netflix (after literally five years). I liked the second one better, though. I preferred the bluer color grading, the wintery setting, and the action sequences. Especially that prison escape! So well-shot!

I also finished Queen of Tears! It was excellent! It lagged a bit in the middle, as all K-dramas tend to do for me, but I powered through to the end because my sister had already finished it and said it was good. And it most certainly was. The story was heartbreaking and gorgeous and soulful. And the soundtrack was just *chef's kiss*! I shared two songs from the show in my "I like" post: "In a Beautiful Way" and "Last Chance".

My reading game has also been going well! I had two excellent adventures back to back in Dream of Kings by Sharon Hinck and In 27 Days by Alison Gervais. The first was so convicting and had great worldbuilding. The second was a bittersweet read, but I loved it and I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it after years of seeing it around online.

In writing news, since I finished my book last year I've been going back and forth between three different projects, unwilling to drop any and work on a singular one. But, I've come to the conclusion that I probably work best when I have a singular writing project and goal, so I've finally, officially chosen between them. It wasn't painful at all, what are you talking about?

I'm about 2,000 words into the one I've chosen, and, Lord willing, I want to finish it by this time next year. But if I don't, that's okay. Goals just help me with projects since they give me something to aim for.

Speaking of goals, also Lord willing, I want to post here every week for the month of March. It's a little challenge I've given myself, just for fun, just because I want to be able to say that I posted every week for a month. With this post, that makes 3 so far! 2 left to go, so let's see if I make it!

Next week will be the first day of Spring. And though I couldn't care less for the flying terrors we call wasps and bees that come with the season, I do not really mind the change. The changing of seasons marks the passage of time, and with the passage of time come precious, new days that bring opportunities to learn and grow. To explore myself and creation and faith. In my current season of life, I most often fear time only if I do not grow. I would hate to look back on these years and see that I didn't try. That I didn't become more. I want to do great things.

Be well,
the hopeful pen
